The core mechanic is the same across almost all of them: you are given a set of letters and must form valid words from them. The games differ in how they score, how they constrain the board, and how they sequence difficulty.

Anagram-wheel games like Wordscapes and Word Cookies arrange letters in a circle or cluster and ask you to fill crossword-style slots. The challenge is that the letter set is fixed, so you must derive all valid answers from the same pool. Wordscapes has the largest data footprint in this category with over 2,300 catalogued levels plus a daily puzzle archive. Word Cookies follows closely with over 3,100 packs, though populated data currently covers around 1,300 of those.

Letter-tile games like Word Crossy and Word Connect work more like a crossword where you drag letters across a board. The solving approach differs because you must account for letter position, not just letter presence. Word Connect has a daily puzzle mode with over 670 date-stamped answers in the archive.

Pack-based word games such as Word Crush, Word Trek, and Word Farm Adventure organise puzzles into themed packs with a defined level count. The satellite sites for these games index every pack and level, making it straightforward to navigate directly to the pack you are stuck on. Word Farm Adventure extends coverage across multiple language variants including German, Spanish, and French.
