How Puzzle Page Kakuro Works

Kakuro is a crossword built from sums: each across and down run has a target total, filled with non-repeating digits.

Tips for Puzzle Page Kakuro

  1. 1

Memorise the unique combinations — 3 in two cells, 4 in two cells, 16 and 17 in two cells each have only one option.

  2. 2

Work the shortest runs first, then use their digits to constrain the long ones.

  3. 3

A cell shared by two runs is where most progress happens; test candidates against both totals.

  4. 4

If a run allows several combinations, look at what its crossings already rule out.

  5. 5

Memorise the unique runs: 3 in two cells is 1+2, 16 in two cells is 7+9, 6 in three cells is 1+2+3, and 24 in three cells is 7+8+9. They pin down whole intersections.

  6. 6

Mark impossible digits rather than possible ones. Eliminating is faster than enumerating when a run has several valid combinations.

Puzzle Page Kakuro Questions

How is Kakuro different from Cross Sum?
They share the same idea; Puzzle Page publishes both under separate names with their own archives.
Do I need arithmetic beyond addition?
No, addition and elimination are enough.
How many Kakuro answers are in this archive?
2,385 solved Kakuro puzzles across 1,247 dates, each stored as the completed number grid exactly as the app shows it once the puzzle is finished.
Do I need arithmetic to solve it?
Only addition, and mostly of small numbers. The work is in choosing which combination fits, not in the sums themselves.
What is the fastest way in?
The runs with only one possible combination — 3, 4, 16 and 17 across two cells — pin down intersections immediately.
Why does one date show more than one puzzle of this type?
Puzzle Page sometimes runs several issues of the same type on a single date. Each carries its own issue number, and each has its own page here.
Pro tips

3 Tips for Puzzle Page

01

The board is the whole puzzle

Every answer is built from what the level actually shows you and nothing else. Counting that first rules out most of what comes to mind, which is quicker than trying words and being rejected.

02

Place the longest answer first

Long answers use up the awkward letters and leave a set that spells the short ones out for you. Starting long is consistently faster than sweeping for three-letter words.

03

Neighbouring levels are the best hint

Difficulty climbs gradually rather than in jumps, so the levels either side of a hard one reuse its patterns. They are more useful than any hint the game sells you.

How to play

How to Solve a Puzzle Page Level

The order that clears a board fastest.

STEP 01

Read what you are given

Letters, tiles or clues — count them before you start. That constraint is the strongest filter you have.

STEP 02

Anchor with the answers you are sure of

Each confirmed answer narrows the ones it touches, so the easy entries are worth the first minute.

STEP 03

Work outwards

Follow the chain from what you have placed rather than jumping around the board.

How we check

Verified Answers, Not Guesses

How we verify these answers

Every answer on this page is read from the game's own puzzle data rather than retyped from another site, and is checked against what the board actually provides — so nothing listed can use a letter the level does not give you. The counts shown are computed from the stored data, not typed in by hand.
