What These Numbers Change About Your Play
C, K and V are premium letters here
All three are 6 points, against 3, 5 and 4 in Scrabble. Words like CHUCK, VIVID and KNACK pay much better than Scrabble habit suggests, and holding a C is no longer a burden.
M and W are not filler
Both are 5 points here against 3 and 4. Playing them off cheaply to clear the rack is a bigger loss than it would be in Scrabble.
One each of J, K, Q, X and Z
Those tiles appear exactly once in the bag. Four of them are worth 10 points, so if you are holding one, the question is not whether to play it but which square to play it on.
How to Score a Word Chums Word
Tiles, then letter bonuses, then word bonuses.
Add the tile values
Total the letters using the table above. This is the base score, before any square bonuses.
Apply letter squares first
Double and triple letter squares multiply that tile alone, so they are worth most under a 10-point letter.
Then apply word squares
A double or triple word square multiplies the whole word after letter bonuses, which is why a short expensive word on the right square beats a long cheap one.

How we verify the tile values and tile distribution used by the game
Both tables were read from Word Chums' own board editor rather than assumed from Scrabble, and the two are told apart by their shape — the 10-point letters identify the values, the eleven Es identify the bag. The routine is in our methodology and the standards in our editorial policy.
