Getting More Out of This List
Word Chums is not Scrabble
Fourteen letters are worth something different here. C, K and V are 6 points against Scrabble's 3, 5 and 4, so words like CHUCK and VIVID pay far better than a Scrabble player expects. The tile values page has all 26.
Short and expensive beats long and cheap
A two-letter word on a premium square often outscores a six-letter word on plain tiles. That is why the two letter list is worth memorising before any other.
Keep one high-value letter back
J, Q, X and Z are all 10 points. Holding one until a double or triple word square opens is usually worth more than playing it immediately — start with the Z list.
How to Find the Word You Need
The lists are organised by what the board gives you.
Start from the shape you have
If the board dictates the length, use the length lists; if it dictates the first or last letter, use the starting-with and ending-in lists.
Check the score before you commit
Every list shows its highest scorers. Under Word Chums values that is often not the word you would expect from Scrabble.
Cross-reference for a tight slot
The combined pages — a length plus a first or last letter — narrow the field to a few dozen words, which is small enough to read in full.

How we verify the full Word Chums word list, organised by length, first letter and last letter, with tile values from the game
The lexicon is cross-checked against the word lists Word Chums publishes itself — our two-letter list matches the game's at 105 words — and every score is calculated with the game's own tile values rather than Scrabble's. The routine is in our methodology, and the standards each page is held to are in the editorial policy.
