Finding the Phrase You Remember

01

Both phrases sit on one page

Phrazle runs a morning puzzle and an afternoon one, and they are different boards. Every dated page here carries both, because that is how players ask for them.

02

Scan a year rather than clicking through it

Each phrase is printed beside its date on the year pages, so a phrase you half-remember can be found by reading rather than by opening every day in turn.

03

The pattern is the useful part

Each dated page shows the word count and the letters per word. That is exactly what the board shows you before you solve it, which makes an old answer useful as practice rather than only as a record — browse the full archive.

How to play

How to Solve a Phrazle Phrase

Three guesses of information beats one guess of luck.

STEP 01

Read the shape first

Word lengths are visible before your first guess and rule out most phrases immediately.

STEP 02

Spend guess one on coverage

Open with common letters spread across several words. The first line is for mapping, not for winning.

STEP 03

Move purple letters across words

A purple tile means right letter, wrong word. Re-place it before you change it.

How we check

Verified Answers, Not Guesses

How we verify both daily phrases for every date in the archive

Every phrase is recorded against its published date and checked against the source before going live. The routine is in our methodology and the standards in our editorial policy.

Reviewed by Priya Raghunathan, Word Games Editor at Puzzle Solved. The full checking routine is in the methodology, and the standards every page is held to are in the editorial policy.

Phrazle Archive FAQ

How far back does the Phrazle archive go?
To August 31, 2022. There are 1,454 days here holding 2,908 phrases, since the game publishes two a day.
Are morning and afternoon Phrazle different puzzles?
Yes, entirely. Both are kept on the same dated page here, because that is how players ask for them — "today's afternoon Phrazle" rather than a separate puzzle number.
How do I find a specific phrase?
Pick a year, then a month. Every phrase is printed beside its date on the year pages, so you can scan rather than click through. Start from the Phrazle hub if you want today's pair first.
